The United Methodist Church , Burundi Annual Conference celebrates Christmas Day in all parishes.
The Legal Representative of the United Methodist Church and Speaker of Burundi senate , the Rt Honorablre Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Sinzohagera accompanied by his first Deputy of Speaker of Burundi Senate Honorable Denise Ndadaye , District Superintendent, District lay leader and distinguished guests of honor shared a Christmas Service with members of Kamenge Parish today.
In his message, the Rt Honorable Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Sinzohagera thanked and supported Kamenge church for their great work they are doing to spread the work of God tirelessly.
He took this opportunity to tell them that Christmas is a day that reminds Christians to strengthen love among church members. “I pray that such a light of love will spread among Christians,” he emphasized. He wished them a Merry Christmas and the whole church in general.
He also urged church members to protect themselves against the pandemic Covid-19. He reminded them to follow the instructions given by the Ministry of Health.
At UMC, St. Peter’s Cathedral Rev. MBONABUCA Julie began the Christmas service by wishing all believers and guests present a Healthy, Joyous and a Merry Christmas.
Church members as usual took precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and many church members and guests attended Christmas Day worship in large numbers.
Major events that dominated the service included welcoming new members in the church, Christmas songs from various choirs, blessings of new baby born, immersion baptisms and parents sharing meals and drinks with Sunday School children.
