During the past one decade, the church in Burundi was deeply divided and operated in a fragmented manner. Nevertheless, we managed to grow our membership to 211,000. The recent reunification and reconciliation presents a great opportunity for the leadership to reposition the church by growing the membership of the church. To achieve this growth, the following efforts will be deployed:

  • Consolidating our operations and evangelism in existing territories of operation (15 provinces and 341 local churches) in order to strengthen existing members and attract new members. Our current territory includes the following provinces: Cankuzo, Gitega, Rutana, Ruyigi, Kirundo, Muyinga, Ngozi, Makamba, Bujumbura Mairie, Bujumbura Rural, Cibitoke, Bubanza, Rumonge, Kayanza and Mwaro.
  • Expanding to 3 new provinces – we will open new local churches in Muramvya, Karusi and Bururi provinces and use these new local churches in these three provinces to launch an aggressive evangelistic ministry.
  • Church infrastructural development: During the next 5 years, the priority will be the improvement and expansion of existing church facilities. Similarly, we will construct new church facilities in new geographical areas the church seeks to expand to.
