On Sunday, January 16, 2022 , the Prime Minister of the Republic of Burundi, His Excellency Allain Guillaume Bunyoni accompanied by his spouse shared Sunday worship with christians of the United Methodist Church of Kayero parish in Mpinga Kayove , Rutana province.
The worship service was also attended by different conference church leaders including Rev. BANKURUNAZE Lazaro currently Bishop’s Assistant and Deputy Legal Representative, Conference lay leader and President of Men Methodist Organization at conference level of the United Methodist Church, Burundi Annual conference.
In welcoming speech, Rev. BANKURUNAZE Lazaro thanked God for honoring our Church by sending a special guests and in particular a guest at the United Methodist Church in Kayero Parish, His Excellency the Prime Minister of Burundi accompanied by the Governor of Rutana province.
The Reverend also conveyed a special greeting from Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Sinzohagera to the guest of honor where he read , “On behalf of the UMC and Myself wish you a happy and prosperous new year of 2022, and the church recognizes and appreciates your decision to join with us in this Sunday worship service with Kayero Congregation in the first few weeks of the year. This shows how much you place importance on our church”
Rev. BANKURUNAZE Lazare the Deputy Legal Representative said that the guest of honor had come at the right time to see himself how God has dealt with our Church after the conflict in the past years but now we are united and we are contributing to the development of the country. “ In fact, we are now united than ever and the church leaders are working together to make sure that Satan is ashamed ” he said
The reverend also informed that the Church is now committed to support community development in different sectors like; agriculture, health care, education and more. He called on the government to help by supporting different sectors and mostly in need like health and education sectors.
The Prime Minister of Burundi government praised the United Methodist Church for its progressive reconciliation and development. On behalf of the Burundi government, he acknowledged that it was the government’s duty to support all citizens’ work where possible.
In his message to believers present, the Prime Minister of the republic of Burundi read in Isaiah 48: 1-4, he urged Christians to abstain from all sin and insist to go and preach the kingdom of God to all nations. “Today Burundians are being told to avoid the devil’s trap,” he said. He urges Christians to accept salvation and to have the strength to endure, and sometimes Christians might face all kinds of evil if they do not take time to pray and accept the wish of God.
